Two "tormenting parents" have demanded lighter sentences from the Zurich High Court. However, the father and stepmother did not contest the conviction for grievous bodily harm of the 44-year-old's daughter on Thursday.

Due to the recognized guilty verdicts, the High Court questioned whether the lawyers' demand for lower sentences was legitimate at all. The trial will nevertheless continue with the pleadings. The lawyers dispute the credibility of some of the daughter's statements. They claim that the district court relied unilaterally on her statements.

The accused did not comment on the allegations on Thursday. The 44-year-old even said that he was "too nervous" to make any statements.

The lower court had spoken of an "education and punishment system". The defendants were each sentenced to five years' imprisonment. The father, a German, also received a ten-year expulsion order, which he is also contesting.
