Traffic controller dies in hospital after accident in Lugano TI

A traffic controller who was hit by a motorcycle in Lugano TI on Saturday died in hospital shortly after the accident. This was announced by the Ticino cantonal police on Sunday.
According to police reports on Saturday, the 60-year-old Italian resident of the Lugano region was hit by a scooter. An ambulance took him to hospital. The man had been directing traffic on a road on behalf of a security company due to tree maintenance work.
A 41-year-old scooter rider from Como (I) was traveling on Via Zurigo at around 8:40 a.m. when the accident occurred, according to the police. The cause was initially unclear.
