Traffic jam in front of Gotthard south portal swells with Easter return journey

On the south-north axis of the A2 highway, the Easter return wave led to the usual avalanche of traffic on Monday afternoon. In front of the south portal of the Gotthard road tunnel in Ticino, traffic jammed for up to nine kilometers between Quinto and Airolo.
The waiting time was one and a half hours, according to the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS). The traffic services expected the volume of traffic to continue to increase over the course of the day.
Viasuisse expected the biggest delays in front of the tunnel portal in Airolo until 10.00 pm. However, there may also be waiting times on Tuesday and the following days, according to the information.
