The journey south was once again a test of patience for drivers on Whit Sunday. Shortly before midday, the traffic jam in front of the Gotthard north portal reached a length of eleven kilometers. Traffic did not move normally again until around 17.30.
Shortly after 10.30 a.m., the traffic jam in front of the Gotthard north portal at Göschenen UR broke the ten-kilometre mark, as the Touring Club of Switzerland (TCS) announced on the X short message service. The traffic jam had already formed at 08:00 in the morning.
Over the course of the afternoon, the length of the traffic jam slowly but steadily decreased. At around 5.30 p.m., the traffic jam cleared up completely, as the Viasuisse traffic information service confirmed to the Keystone-SDA news agency.
