Twint, the Swiss payment app developed by various banks, and the American financial infrastructure provider Stripe will be working together in future. In future, Twint users will be able to pay with Twint at companies that process their payments via Stripe.

The new alliance is "significant" for international companies that offer their products and services in Switzerland, according to a press release issued by Stripe on Wednesday. "The integration of Twint as a payment method at Stripe opens up an effective opportunity for numerous international merchants to tap into the Swiss market", Twint Chief Sales Officer Adrian Platter is quoted as saying in the press release.

Unlike abroad, where Paypal, Apple and Google Pay or Klarna, for example, are widely used for payments via app or online, Twint is clearly ahead in Switzerland. According to the press release, Twint achieves 76% coverage in e-commerce in this country, is offered by almost all Swiss banks as a mobile payment solution and is used by around 5 million users. For foreign companies that also want to sell their goods in Switzerland, the integration of Twint is correspondingly important.
