Two people have been injured in a balcony demolition in Lucerne. For safety reasons, the other balconies of the apartment building affected may no longer be accessed for the time being.
The balcony was on the second floor of an apartment on Kellerstrasse, as the Lucerne police reported on Friday. It buckled at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and remained hanging on the building at an angle.
A 56-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man fell into the courtyard. They were found injured by the police and taken to hospital by ambulance.
It was still unclear on Friday how the balcony came to be demolished. According to the press release, the public prosecutor's office has begun an investigation. For safety reasons, the police instructed the residents of the other apartments not to enter their balconies for the time being.
On Wednesday evening, a third-floor balcony broke off in the German city of Hamburg. Six people were injured.
