The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and the bank UBS have entered into a partnership. UBS intends to invest up to CHF 15 million in joint projects over the next 10 years, as was reported in a press release issued by EPFL on Thursday.

The joint projects relate in particular to the promotion of young entrepreneurs, as detailed in the press release. As part of the new partnership, EPFL and UBS will establish joint formats and events for young entrepreneurs.

Young companies in the polytechnic sector are important drivers of innovation and develop solutions for global challenges, for example in the area of sustainability, EPFL wrote in the press release.

The partnership also aims to awaken and promote interest in technology and science among children and young people. According to the press release, access to education in the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) is to be expanded in rural areas of French-speaking Switzerland.
