According to UN figures, more than 2,000 people have been killed in Lebanon since October 2023 as a result of the escalation of violence between the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia and Israel. This was reported by the UN Human Rights Office in Geneva, citing the local Ministry of Health.
Among them were 100 emergency paramedics and other healthcare professionals.
A year ago in October, the terrorist militia Hezbollah in Lebanon massively expanded its attacks on Israel. This was preceded by the terrorist attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023 and Israel's reaction to declare war on the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Since mid-September, Israel has also been launching massive attacks in Lebanon in order to eliminate Hezbollah.
"The Lebanese people are bearing the brunt of this latest phase of the conflict," said UN Human Rights Office spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani.
