Unemployment Rate Increases to 2.0 Percent

In August, the number of unemployed people in Switzerland increased slightly. The unemployment rate rose from 1.9 to 2.0 percent, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). This is the highest rate since April 2020, when the rate was 2.2 percent. The number of unemployed people increased by 8,000 compared to the previous month, bringing the total number of unemployed people to 124,000. The number of people in employment also increased by 8,000, bringing the total number of employed people to 5.3 million. The number of people in short-term employment decreased by 4,000, while the number of people in long-term employment increased by 12,000. The number of people in part-time employment increased by 4,000.
