A farm in Cheseaux-sur-Lausanne in the canton of Vaud burned down on Sunday. The building was uninhabited and unoccupied, but contained agricultural equipment and old straw. No persons were injured.
An eyewitness reported the fire to the Vaud police headquarters shortly before 10.30 p.m., as reported by the Vaud cantonal police on Monday. On site, the emergency services were only able to determine that the roof had been completely engulfed by flames.
The 50 or so firefighters then concentrated on protecting the neighboring houses before extinguishing the fire themselves. The farmhouse was completely destroyed.
The town center, several streets and a railroad line were closed for the extinguishing work. The cause of the fire was initially unknown. The public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation.
