The occupation of the University of Bern by pro-Palestinian students continued on Monday. According to the occupiers, around one hundred people have joined the protest in the Unitobler building since Sunday evening.

They accuse the university management of taking a one-sided stance in the Middle East conflict. The university should cut its links with Israeli universities.

The university rejected the accusations. Universities are not political actors, a spokesperson told the Keystone-SDA news agency. There is no major research cooperation with Israeli universities.

There is cooperation between researchers from Bern and Israel on major international projects. This is common practice in science. For the University of Bern, maintaining academic discourse is of crucial importance.
