On Thursday evening, an unknown drone pilot obstructed the rescue operation following the explosion in Nussbaumen AG that left two dead and eleven injured. In response to the incident, the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) has issued a reminder of the rules.

Everyone should keep their drone away from construction light operations, the Bazl wrote on Friday on Platform X: "Land your drone if you see another aircraft, for example a helicopter." Anyone who violates the drone rules is liable to prosecution.

The Aargau cantonal police wrote on social media at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday during the ongoing rescue operation: "Rescue helicopters can no longer fly due to the drone." The drone pilots were urgently requested to "get the drones out of the air!".

Switzerland adopted the EU drone regulation at the beginning of 2023. Among other things, all drone pilots are required to register. The exception is that the drone weighs less than 250 grams and is not equipped with a camera, sensor or other device for recording personal data.
