During the night of Friday, unknown persons applied graffiti with pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli slogans to several art galleries in Zurich. Several of the affected galleries have recognizable Jewish references.
At the request of Keystone-SDA, the Zurich city police confirmed corresponding reports from "20 Minuten" and "Blick". There have now been reports of graffiti at five locations.
Among those affected is the gallery of a Jewish gallery owner. "Free Palestine" was spray-painted on the façade and "No art for genocide" on the sidewalk in front of it. Works by Jewish artists are currently on display at two other affected galleries.
The police are investigating whether the graffiti could be punishable beyond the offense of damage to property.
