Early on Thursday morning, the Uri cantonal game warden shot a wolf in Realp that had been released for shooting. A DNA analysis will show whether it was the wolf that caused the damage.
Immediately after the shooting, another wolf was spotted on the Schweig alp in the Witenwasserntal valley, as reported by the Uri Security Directorate on Thursday. The livestock owner and the herd protection officer were informed. They will decide on the continuation of herd protection measures.
On Monday, the government released the wolf for shooting. In the past few days, the wolf has killed 16 domestic goats on the Schweig alp. 10 domestic goats are still missing.
