The Italian Trio Chagall receives the Verbier Festival Academy's highest award, the Yves Paternot Prize, endowed with 10,000 francs. It was the only chamber music ensemble to be admitted this year.
The ensemble gives concerts throughout Europe, in Kuwait, China and Japan and performs in venues such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Harbin Grand Theatre in China, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste and the venerable opera house in Venice, the Gran Teatro la Fenice.
Founded in 2013, the Trio Chagall with Lorenzo Nguyen, Edoardo Grieco and Francesco Massimino now studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel under the direction of Rainer Schmidt and Anton Kernjak. The ensemble has also been a ProQuartett ensemble in residence in Paris since 2023.
The prize also comes with an invitation to perform at one of the next Verbier Festivals and support for artistic and professional development of up to 15,000 francs, as the organizers explained in a press release on Saturday.
The prize is awarded each year to the most accomplished and promising musicians from the Academy for Young Professional Musicians. The next Verbier Festival will take place from July 16 to August 3, 2025.
