The Swiss castles recorded a new record of over 1.3 million visitors in 2023. They flocked to the 28 facilities belonging to the association. In 2024, the association will be ten years old and welcomed two new castle complexes.
The new members are the Valère and Tourbillon castles in Sion VS and Rapperswil SG Castle. The Swiss Castles Association, based at Schloss Wildegg AG, now has 30 affiliated institutions, as it announced on Monday. These will open to the public in May.
The gardens and parks are also open to the public. However, the new member Rapperswil Castle will only open its doors in the fall after a major renovation. The former fortified, magnificent and residential buildings belonging to the organizations are located in thirteen cantons.
With the new visitor record, the castle association recorded growth of 18 percent compared to the previous year. It saw this success as confirmation of the commitment and cultural work of its members.
