Thanks to successful crowdfunding, the Volkstheaterfestival in Meiringen is taking place for the fourth time. It runs from June 12 to 16. One of the highlights is a play by the Lausanne group "Le Collectif Oz", as the festival announced on Tuesday.

The festival collected the substantial sum of almost 20,000 francs on an online platform. Thanks to this successful campaign, the festival can be held again this year, as Sandro Barbieri from the organizing committee told Keystone-SDA.

For the first time this year, there is a festival pass on offer, which includes all performances, meals, accommodation, courses and excursions, according to the statement.

One of the highlights of the festival is "a captivating play on the subject of communication" by the group "Le Collectif Oz" from Lausanne. It will be performed on Sunday, June 16, at 11 a.m. in the festival tent.

Once again this year, eight theater groups will take part in the competition for the "Golden Meringue" in the Tramhalle Meiringen. The variety of plays promises "unforgettable theatrical moments" and demonstrates the wide range of Swiss amateur theater.

The folk theatre festival celebrates the best of Swiss folk theater and helps to promote the exchange of ideas, develop talent and support the folk theatre tradition in Switzerland by providing a platform for theater groups, the organizers announced.
