Voting on 18 proposals in 13 cantons

At the heart of the cantonal votes this Sunday is the decision on the transfer of the town of Moutier from Bern to the Jura. A total of 18 proposals will be voted on in 13 cantons.
The cantons of Bern and Jura will decide on the concordat on Moutier's change of canton. In March 2021, Moutier itself voted in favor of the change to the canton of Jura by 2114 votes to 1740. The change of canton is to be completed at the beginning of 2026. The vote still required in the federal parliament is considered a formality.
The canton of Basel-Landschaft is deciding on the introduction of a freeze on doctors. The aim is to save CHF 7.7 million per year. Exceptions should be possible in the event of supply bottlenecks.
In the canton of Zurich, the issue is the five-year waiting period for temporarily admitted persons before they can apply for scholarships from the canton. The cantonal council wanted to abolish the waiting period, but the SVP/EDU parliamentary group, with the help of FDP members, forced a referendum in the cantonal council.
In the canton of Geneva, a decision is being made on the duration of primary school teacher training. In future, the training of primary school teachers is to last three years, as in all other cantons. Until now, the canton was a special case in Switzerland with a training period of four years.
Second attempt for transparency initiative
For the second time, the canton of Zug is voting on a transparency initiative by the Young Alternative. In a counter-proposal, the government and cantonal council are proposing to regulate the details of the transparency provisions in a law rather than at constitutional level. The vote on the same proposal on June 9 was declared invalid due to problems with the count.
In the canton of Schwyz, a loan of CHF 139 million is at stake for a new administration and security center in Kaltbach.
In Uri, a decision is being taken on extending the obligation to install solar systems to new buildings and on lower tax deductions.
In the canton of Nidwalden, the municipalities are to be given more organizational freedom thanks to an amendment to the constitution. At the same time, the way is to be paved for electronic voting.
Equity tax put to the test
In the canton of Lucerne, companies and people with low incomes are to benefit from tax relief. The equity tax for companies is to be effectively abolished. The high tax losses of CHF 56 million for the canton from 2028 and CHF 67 million for the municipalities are controversial.
In the canton of Solothurn, the government should in future be able to elect the State Secretary itself and no longer the parliament. In addition, the cantonal building insurance company should be able to issue new regulations under the control of parliament.
In the canton of Graubünden, the population is voting on a new civil defense training center in Churwalden that will cost almost 19 million francs.
The law on supplementary benefits for families is being voted on in the canton of Fribourg. It is intended to support low-income families with benefits aimed at promoting financial, social and professional independence.
