The rainfall of the past few days and hours has also caused the waters in the canton of Fribourg to swell. Lakes Neuchâtel and Murten are particularly affected. If the weather does not calm down, the authorities fear that the water levels will continue to rise.

The Fribourg cantonal police advise boat owners in particular to check their moorings and, if necessary, to loosen the ropes so that the boats are not flooded.

In Cheyres FR and Estavayer-le-Lac FR, Lake Neuchâtel is likely to overflow its banks in some places, according to a statement from the Fribourg cantonal police on Wednesday. It advises homeowners in the immediate vicinity of the lake to monitor the situation, move sensitive properties to safety and, if necessary, turn off power installations.

A lot of driftwood was floating in all waters, which could be dangerous for navigation, the report continued. The police advise skippers to adapt their speed to the circumstances.
