According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), disinformation is the biggest threat in the next two years. For the next ten years, however, it considers extreme weather conditions to be the biggest concern.

"Global threats are pushing adaptability to its limits," warns the WEF in a report published on Wednesday, just a few days before the opening of the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos GR, which some 1,500 experts and decision-makers contributed to.

Around a third of these experts expect a global catastrophe to become increasingly likely in the next two years. Two thirds see this happening in the next ten years.

Among the threats, those related to the environment occupy the top four places. Technological and social threats are rated as increasingly serious, in contrast to political threats, which experts believe are on the decline.

In the shorter term, disinformation is seen as the greatest threat, especially in combination with social unrest. This is all the more true as elections are due to be held in major countries such as the USA and Russia in the near future.

Only in fifth place on the threat scale are interstate conflicts such as the war in Ukraine and the current conflict in the Middle East.
