What President Amherd says about the conclusion of the EU negotiations

On Friday, President Viola Amherd praised the outcome of the negotiations between Switzerland and the EU. The most important statements are set out below:
"Today is a milestone for the stabilization and further development of bilateral relations. In a difficult global environment, it is a strong, positive signal that Switzerland and the EU have been able to reach an agreement."
"Our negotiating teams have worked very hard to find balanced solutions that are in the interests of both sides. In 200 challenging meetings, they looked for solutions that work for both sides."
"The Federal Council is convinced that the outcome of the negotiations is good and beneficial for both partners. It is the result of hard work."
"I am very pleased that we have come to a good conclusion in which the goals set by the Federal Council have been achieved."
"This marks the start of the political debates in Switzerland. After a phase of legal review and the formal conclusion of negotiations with the initialling, parliament and then the electorate will take on the main roles in Switzerland. Democratic processes take time. They are not always easy. But they score highly in terms of legitimacy."
