Woman dies in accident at level crossing in Winterthur ZH

Early Thursday morning, a train hit a 41-year-old woman at a level crossing in Winterthur ZH, fatally injuring her. The circumstances of the accident are not yet known.
The woman entered the level crossing on St. Gallerstrasse shortly after 5 a.m., as reported by the Zurich cantonal police on Thursday. According to the statement, the train approaching from Winterthur Grüze station initiated a braking maneuver and issued a warning signal. Despite this, the train hit the woman. She succumbed to her serious injuries at the scene of the accident.
The side from which she entered the level crossing and whether the level crossing gates were open or closed is to be clarified by analyzing evidence and conducting interviews.
