A 56-year-old man was caught in a snowslide while working in a quarry in Vals GR on Monday afternoon and was swept over forty meters into the depths. He died on the spot.

The 56-year-old and other workers were busy drilling above a demolition edge, the Graubünden cantonal police reported on Tuesday.

Shortly after 3.30 p.m., he wanted to cross a sloping and snow-covered area. He was caught in a snow slide and pulled over forty meters into the depths. Together with the public prosecutor's office, the cantonal police are continuing to investigate the accident at work.
