The railroad line between Zermatt and Täsch is running normally again. The interruption between Visp and Täsch will remain in place until mid-August. The Vispa river and its tributaries flowing through the Mattertal valley had caused damage at several points along the line due to flooding.
As the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway announced on the short message service X on Friday, it resumed scheduled services on this section of the route in the morning. Replacement buses will be running between Visp and Täsch until mid-August. The Vispa and its tributaries flowing through the Mattertal valley had caused major damage to the Visp-Zermatt railroad line with their flooding.
A week ago, Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway officials estimated the damage at over ten million francs. The replacement buses used during the interruption cost the railroad a further million francs. According to earlier information, the railroad company is insured.
