The Zug government wants to reduce the cantonal tax rate by four percent between 2026 and 2029. This means a total of CHF 224 million less will flow into the canton's coffers. In addition to the tax rate reduction, it has also planned further relief measures for the population.

In future, the government also wants to allow higher tax deductions, as it announced on Monday. Deductions of between CHF 4600 and CHF 13,800 plus CHF 1600 per child will now be possible. Currently, it is between CHF 3,400 and CHF 10,200 plus CHF 1,100 per child.

As a result, the canton will lose CHF 6.5 million in revenue per year and the municipalities CHF 4.9 million. Tax relief for pensioners is also planned.

The whole thing will be financed from last year's surplus of CHF 461.3 million. The excess tax revenue is to be repaid to the population through the three measures.
