A naked man threatened a store employee with a knife on Saturday afternoon in Zurich. The police were able to overpower the 31-year-old Polish man with a destabilization device. No one was injured.

Shortly before 3 p.m., a passer-by reported that a naked man had entered the grocery store on the old Kalchbühlstrasse in Zurich's Kreis 2 district, waving a kitchen knife around and threatening the staff, according to Zurich city police on Saturday evening.

By the time the police patrol arrived, however, the man had already left the store and was still waving the knife around outside. The police officers then used an irritant on the man. When this had no effect, the city police were assisted by a patrol from the Zurich cantonal police, who overpowered the man and had him taken to hospital.

According to the police, an anti-Semitic background can be ruled out as far as we know so far.
