CHF 47 Million Proposal: The Federal Council Want Money For Health Insurance Quality and Safety.
The Federal Council is asking Parliament for CHF 47 million to improve the quality of health insurance. The money is intended to improve the quality of medical services and promote patient safety between 2025 and 2028. Four-year targets serve as a guideline.
These targets for 2025 to 2028 are a further development of the targets for the previous four-year period, as announced by the Federal Council on Wednesday. Quality development is to take effect at all levels of the healthcare system. To this end, the federal government wants to promote national quality monitoring.
The Federal Quality Commission implements the objectives. To this end, it commissions third parties and participates financially in projects. Contracts between service providers and insurance companies must be based on the Federal Council’s four-year targets.
This is based on the new quality strategy adopted in 2022. This stipulates that treatment and care must be safe, effective, integrated and provided on an equal footing with patients. The Federal Council defines the objectives for this every four years. The Confederation, cantons and insurance companies each bear a third of the costs of the Quality Commission.
