Two 16-year-old asylum seekers attacked police officers in Ticino. Three police officers were injured, the Ticino cantonal police said Friday last week.

According to the police report, one policeman had a bone broken in his hand, another suffered bruises on his head and one had abrasions on his arms.

One of the youths pulled a piece of sheet metal from his pocket during a check at the federal asylum center in Balerna TI and swung it in the direction of a police officer, cantonal police said. Two police officers were able to disarm him and handcuff him.

At that moment, the other youth intervened by elbowing one of the police officers in the neck, they said. However, according to the police statement, the policeman fought off the blow and handcuffed him as well.

The young asylum seekers with Tunisian and Moroccan nationality are accused of violence and threats against authorities and officials, obstruction of an official act and simple assault, according to the statement.
