The people of Zug have the most money available for rent, clothing and other living expenses in the whole of Switzerland. According to a study by market research company GfK, per capita purchasing power is distributed very differently in this country.

The cantons of Zug, Schwyz and Nidwalden lead the Swiss ranking of average “per capita purchasing power”, according to a GfK study.

With an annual value of around 86,400 euros, people in the canton of Zug have almost twice as much money to spend as in the canton of Jura, which has the lowest purchasing power. The “per capita purchasing power” there is only around 44,000 euros. The Swiss average is 52,600 euros.

That is more than in neighboring countries: Austrians have an average of around 29,300 euros per capita at their disposal. Germans can spend an average of a good 27,800 euros this year.

Purchasing power is defined as the total net income of the population. In addition to income, GfK also includes capital income, unemployment benefit, child benefit and pensions in “per capita purchasing power”.
