After the rejection by the Federal Supreme Court headed by the Green cantonal councillor Urs Dietschi. Plans for a vote on March 3rd on the expansion of the Zurich Airport.

The “No to runway expansion” referendum has criticised the government council for using delay tactics. After the ruling against postponing the vote is not justified as the voting process has already started.

The anti expansion campaigners argue the government council had “changed and shortened” its arguments against the runway extension in the voting documents “without consultation”.

The government council rejected the corresponding objection at the end of January. Before the documents were printed, there were differences of opinion between the committee and the government regarding the truthfulness of texts and graphics that the committee had submitted for the voting newspaper.
