The Swiss branch of the major French bank BNP Paribas is planning major job cuts. In total, BNP Paribas (Suisse) plans to cut around 100 jobs at its Geneva site, as a media spokeswoman explained on Friday when asked by the news agency AWP.

According to the spokesperson, the job cuts will primarily affect the support and IT departments. A consultation process had been initiated with the personnel commission in Geneva. The news agency “Bloomberg” first reported on the job cuts at BNP Paribas. There was even talk of a loss of up to 150 jobs.

BNP Paribas employs over 1000 people in Switzerland. Despite the job cuts, the bank will continue to implement its strategic plan 2025, the statement continued. BNP Paribas therefore intends to continue to grow in Switzerland.
