This will counteract inflation, according to a statement on Friday. Employees in sales and logistics are set to benefit disproportionately from the wage increase, for example in comparison to the generally higher wages in administration. The wage increases will be granted both individually and structurally.

All employees will also receive a cost-of-living adjustment of up to CHF 100 per month based on their workload. Furthermore, all employees will receive a Denner gift card worth 500 francs, regardless of their workload. This is the company’s way of thanking its employees for their commitment in a challenging economic environment.

The minimum wage will also be increased by 100 francs each. Unskilled workers with a 100% workload will now receive CHF 4400 per month, those who have completed a 2-year retail apprenticeship CHF 4500 and those who have completed a 3-year retail apprenticeship CHF 4600.

Coop employees will also receive higher wages next year. In total, the retail giant will increase the wage bill by 2.2 percent in 2024. Aldi Suisse has not yet announced the results of the negotiations. Lidl holds its annual pay round in March.
