77-year-old hiker killed in an accident on the Sunnighorn BE

A 77-year-old hiker had a fatal accident on the Sunnighorn near Wimmis BE on Wednesday afternoon. For reasons as yet unexplained, he fell several meters from an alpine hiking trail.

The emergency services alerted located a lifeless person in the rough terrain, as reported by the Bern cantonal police on Thursday. They were ultimately only able to determine the man's death on site.

In addition to the Bern cantonal police, a Rega team and a specialist from Swiss Alpine Rescue were also deployed. The police, under the direction of the regional public prosecutor's office for the Oberland, began an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
