7,776 People are Running for National Council in the Canton of Bern

In the canton of Bern, the National Council seats are more sought after than ever before. A total of 776 people are running for the 24 seats in the upcoming elections, with 328 women and 448 men on 39 different lists. This is the highest number of candidates and lists ever seen in the canton of Bern, with the previous record being 651 candidates on 34 lists. The current breakdown of Bern's National Council seats is as follows: SVP 7, SP 4, Green 4, GLP 3, FDP 2, Middle 2, EVP 1, EDU 1. Four current Bern National Council members are not running for re-election - three from the SVP and one from the Free Democrats.nnnnnn
