Around 150 Evacuees Can Return to Their Homes

On Tuesday afternoon, the mayor of Riederalp, Peter Albrecht, announced that around 150 people who had been evacuated from their homes due to the forest fire in the Oberwallis region of Switzerland could return to their homes that evening. This was out of the total of over 200 people who had been evacuated from the towns of Ried-Mörel and Bitsch on Monday night. The exact details of who could return and when were still being worked out by the emergency response team, led by Mario Schaller.
