Berset remains in the running for the post of Secretary General of the Council of Europe

Former Federal Councillor Alain Berset is recommended for the post of Secretary General of the Council of Europe. The delegates of the Council of Europe ministers have considered the Swiss candidate for their ticket.

This was announced by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) on Monday afternoon via the short message service X. The election will therefore take place on June 25.

The current Secretary General, Marija Pejcinovic Buric from Croatia, will take office on September 18, 2024, when her five-year term ends.
