On the second day of the trial against a former member of a Belarusian special unit, the defendant's defense attorney pleaded not guilty. The accused is accused of participating in the murders of opposition members of the Lukaschenko regime. The defense argued that the act of disappearance was not fulfilled despite the confession. The trial is focused on determining whether the defendant's statements are credible or if he made them in order to obtain a positive asylum decision. The man stated in his asylum application that he was involved in the 1999 murder of three opposition politicians in Belarus. This is the first time a local court has heard the article of disappearance on behalf of a state, which has been enshrined in the Swiss Criminal Code since 2017. In summary, the trial is examining the credibility of the defendant's statements and whether he was involved in the murder of three opposition politicians in Belarus in 1999.
