Fire Destroys Farmhouse in Rechthalten FR

A fire broke out in Rechthalten, Switzerland on Thursday afternoon, destroying a farmhouse and killing eleven calves. One person was slightly injured and seven people were checked for smoke inhalation. Firefighters were able to rescue ninety cows, but not the eleven calves. Three of the house's occupants lost their home and six people from neighbouring houses had to spend the night with friends for safety reasons. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but is believed to have started while hay was being stored. Around one hundred firefighters were deployed to the scene and a fire watch was posted. The fire also caused a fish kill in the nearby Vorsatzbach.
