Léonard Gianadda planned for his museum beyond his death

The exhibition "Anchor and Childhood" is the first at the Fondation Pierre Gianadda without its founder Léonard Gianadda. However, the patron had the foresight to plan for the foundation beyond his death.

The Valais patron of the arts, architect and building contractor Léonard Gianadda died at the beginning of December last year at the age of 88. He helped prepare the Anker exhibition himself, as well as "Cézanne - Renoir", which will be on display from July 12.

The next two to three years are also already planned, Jean-Henry Papilloud told the Keystone-SDA news agency. Pailloud and Anouck Darioli are the vice presidents of the foundation.

According to Papilloud, Léonard Gianadda has proven to be far-sighted with this co-vice presidency. The patron of the arts from Valais had chosen two Vice-Presidents who had already been involved in the management of the Fondation Pierre Gianadda during his lifetime and who could now guarantee its continuation. If the Board of Trustees of the Pierre Gianadda Foundation confirms this choice in the spring, nothing should stand in the way.

The Fondation Pierre Gianadda in Martigny is a museum of international renown. Renowned artists such as Picasso, Van Gogh and Rodin are regularly exhibited there; the museum welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Léonard Gianadda founded the Fondation Pierre Gianadda in 1978 in memory of his brother, who died young.
