The people and cantons say yes to the popular initiative for a 13th AHV pension. According to SRG projections, 58% of voters support the initiative. Now that the votes have been counted in 21 cantons, it is clear that the initiative has also achieved a majority of the cantons.

Based on the referendum polls, political researchers did not believe it was certain that the majority of the cantons would be achieved. So far, a total of twelve cantons have voted in favor of the proposal and six have voted against.

The highest "yes" percentages so far have come from French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino. Jura is leading the way with 82.5 percent of votes in favor. In German-speaking Switzerland, Basel-Stadt has so far received the highest percentage of Yes votes with 64.5 percent.

Several central Swiss cantons, Thurgau and the two cantons of Appenzell have so far expressed their opposition. The canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden has the highest "no" rate with 68.6%.
