Operation Libero: “The Federal Council shows courage”

The political movement Operation Libero considers the Federal Council's decision to adopt the negotiating mandate with the EU to be courageous. According to Operation Libero, it offers Switzerland a huge opportunity to strengthen its long-term institutional relationship with its most important partner.

The mandate covers everything that is necessary to adapt relations with the EU to the present day and to strengthen them in the long term, it continued. Switzerland is part of Europe, not an island. It "urgently needs a long-term solution" in order to secure the individual freedoms provided by access to the single market and the free movement of persons.

In view of the fierce headwind from "scrapper circles", the Federal Council needs the necessary tailwind from politics, business and civil society. There must be no repeat of 2021, warned Operation Libero.
