Pedestrian hit and seriously injured by motorcyclist

A pedestrian has been hit and critically injured by a motorcyclist while crossing a pedestrian crossing in Ticino. She was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. in Quartino, according to the Ticino cantonal police. A 19-year-old motorcyclist was traveling in the direction of Locarno when he collided with a pedestrian on the pedestrian crossing.
After receiving initial medical treatment on the spot, the young woman was taken to hospital by ambulance. Her injuries were life-threatening.
The motorcyclist was only slightly injured in the accident.
