Postauto is heading for a record number of passengers in 2023.

Postauto has recovered faster than expected from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. If the trend continues, the Postauto subsidiary is expected to break its passenger record from 2019. After the pandemic, the whole industry was wondering how long the recovery would take, said Postauto CEO Christian Plüss at a media conference in Bern. Ultimately, business picked up quickly. Between January and July, the number of passengers in Postautos increased by 4% compared to the same period in 2019. While growth during the week was moderate at 2%, passenger numbers on weekends increased by 10%. At the same time, Postauto expanded its offer according to its own statements. Currently, the ticket can still be paid for in cash in the Postauto, despite a decrease in sales. Postauto is planning to install ticket machines in the buses. Alliance Swisspass wants to digitalize the ticket system by 2035. In addition, Postauto is offering transport on demand as a solution for the future. However, this is developing slowly, due to the already well-developed transport offer.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
