Short Occupation of Geothermal Site in Glovelier

On Saturday afternoon, several dozen people occupied a site designated for a deep geothermal energy project in Glovelier, Switzerland. The demonstrators, mostly masked, broke through the fences and gathered at the site from a nearby improvised camping ground. The local security service called the police, who arrived to find the group of people. The police began investigations and the prosecutor's office was informed. The deep geothermal energy project in the Jura region has been controversial, and earlier this month, opponents set up a tent camp near the planned site. After a discussion with the police, the demonstrators agreed to leave and departed shortly afterwards.
