Strong Foehn Wind Sweeps Across Switzerland

The Swiss Federal Office of Meteorology has reported "impressive values" for the Föhn wind in Switzerland. The highest gusts were measured on the Gütsch UR at 119 kilometres per hour on Thursday. In the Föhn valleys, 75 km/h were recorded in Erstfeld UR and 81 km/h in Vaduz FL, according to Meteoschweiz. High temperatures were also recorded on Thursday, with the highest temperature of 27.4 degrees Celsius in Sax SG. After the Föhn, rain is expected. Intensive precipitation is expected on the south side of the Alps between Thursday afternoon and Friday evening, according to Meteoschweiz. Warnings of level 3 and 4 (out of 5) have been issued in the affected regions.
