The authorities in the landslide area of Schwanden have installed video surveillance, allowing the civil protection to be withdrawn. A security firm is now monitoring the access to the endangered area. The situation in the Wagenrunse area of Schwanden remains unchanged, but precautionary measures have been taken in case of further danger. Evacuated people are not being filmed when they visit their homes during the defined time frames. The requests to the established hotline have decreased and will not be answered over the weekend. The landslide is expected to keep the authorities, the municipality and the canton occupied for several months. Volunteers are being asked to contact the municipality. At the end of August, two large landslides occurred after heavy rainfall, covering a length of 400 meters and damaging or destroying half a dozen houses.
