The Unemployment Rate in July Remains at a Very Low Level

The Swiss labour market remains in good condition. In July, the number of unemployed people increased slightly, but the unemployment rate remained below the 2% mark. At the end of July, 87,601 people were registered as unemployed at the Regional Employment Centers (RAV), an increase of 2502 from June. Compared to the same month last year, unemployment decreased by 3873 people (-4.2%). The unemployment rate remained at 1.9%, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose slightly to 2.1% from 2.0%. The number of job seekers registered with the SECO in July was 150,673, 55 more than in the previous month, but 12,642 fewer than a year ago. The number of vacancies reported to the RAVs decreased by 2527 to 49,204 in July. Of these, 31,265 were subject to notification requirements for occupations with an unemployment rate of at least 5%.nnnn
