Waadtland State Councillor Gorrite Falls Out Due to Breast Cancer

Nuria Gorrite, the Waadt State Councillor from the Social Democratic Party, has been diagnosed with breast cancer during a routine check-up. She will undergo surgery in mid-October and a month of radiation therapy. Vassilis Venizelos from the Green Party will take over her duties in the meantime. The cancer was discovered in an early stage and has "optimal healing prospects", according to the State Council. Gorrite will be operated on an outpatient basis in mid-October and then begin radiation therapy. She is expected to resume her duties after the New Year holidays, depending on the results of the post-operative analysis.
