The cantonal council of Ausserrhoden has set the date for the burning of the Zurich Böögg. The event will take place on June 22 in Heiden. Due to strong gusts of wind, the wood pile was not lit at the Zurich Sechseläuten. Now the host canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden is making up for the event.

Various locations were examined, the cantonal chancellery of Ausserrhoden announced on Monday. One argument in favour of Heiden was that the municipality is well served by public transport. It also has experience with large events.

A worthy event with the Zurich guilds, the local population and guests is planned for Saturday, June 22, so that the winter of 2023/2024 can finally be bid farewell “albeit a little late”.

For the first time – with the exception of the Corona years – the wooden bonfire on Sechseläutenplatz in Zurich was not lit on April 15.

According to tradition, the faster the head of the fabric and wood snowman filled with firecrackers explodes, the warmer the summer will be.
